Two-Day Special Anti-Drug Drive in Kolkata to Mark International Day Against Drug Abuse by IHA Foundation and Prapti Welfare Society with Kolkata Police

A two-day Special Anti-Drug Drive, organized by Prapti Welfare Society and IHA Foundation, in association with Kolkata Police, was inaugurated today at Park Circus 7 Point Crossing on the eve of International Day Against Drug Abuse which is on 26th June 2025. The event was graced by the presence of Jb Imran Hasan (Chairman of West Bengal Minorities Commission) who officially launched the initiative, alongside Satnam Singh Ahluwalia (Chairman IHA Foundation and Member West Bengal Minorities Commission), Jb Ishtiaque Ahmed Raju (General Secretary Mohammedan Sporting Club), Imran Zaki (President FACES), Ethesham Haq, Farid Khan, Mukhtar Ali, Annirudh Jhajharia among other esteemed dignitaries.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the devastating impact of drug abuse and encourage the community to collectively stand against the menace of drugs. Over the next two days, an intensive awareness drive will be conducted in Park Circus crossing and adjoining areas, engaging the public through interactive sessions, placards, and educational programs. Addressing the gathering, Jb Imran Hasan (Chairman of West Bengal Minorities Commission), stated, "Drug abuse is a silent destroyer of families, futures, and dreams. It is only through community-driven efforts like this that we can create a safer, drug-free society. I commend Prapti Welfare Society, IHA Foundation, and the people of Kolkata for their commitment to this noble cause."

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman of IHA Foundation, emphasized the importance of collective action, saying, "The battle against drug abuse requires each one of us to rise above indifference and unite as one. Through this drive, we hope to touch lives, ignite hope, and inspire positive change. Let’s say yes to life and no to drugs."

Parikshit Dhar, representing Prapti Welfare Society, highlighted the grassroots-level impact of such initiatives, stating, "Awareness is the first step toward change. By reaching out to the youth and marginalized sections, we aim to spread a powerful message – that life, with its infinite possibilities, is far too precious to be lost to drugs."

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia and Jb. Ishtiaque Ahmed Raju, General Secretary of Mohammedan Sporting Club, jointly pledged their support to Kolkata Police, committing to assist young individuals. They emphasized creating opportunities for aspiring athletes to integrate into the mainstream, and proposed involving local youth and unemployed individuals through para clubs, providing constructive avenues to channel their time and energy, thereby preventing them from falling prey to substance abuse.

The two-day drive will include street plays, poster campaigns, and interactive sessions led by healthcare professionals, social workers, and police officers, designed to educate people on the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of staying away from substance abuse. The collaboration between Kolkata Police, Prapti Welfare Society, and IHA Foundation underscores a shared vision of a drug-free Kolkata. Together, they aim to pave the way for a healthier, safer, and more aware society.
