IHA Foundation Leads the Charge for a Plastic-Free Future on World
Environment Day 2025 – Beat Plastic Pollution
IHA Foundation and Earth Day Org, which works year round to solve climate change, to end
plastic pollution, to protect endangered species, and to broaden, educate, and activate the
environmental movement across the globe having presence in 196 countries. Both the
organizations have partnered together to take the environment mission forward in India
In a resounding declaration of commitment to our planet's health, the IHA Foundation
spearheaded an impactful plastic cleanup drive across various key locations in Kolkata, marking
World Environment Day with a powerful call to action. Under the overarching theme of "Beat
Plastic Pollution," volunteers from IHA Foundation with the Chairman Satnam Singh Ahluwalia
took to the streets, notably the bustling Calcutta Maidan and the pavements of the iconic
Victoria Memorial, as well as other pivotal areas including Park Circus, Behala, and Esplanade,
to wage war against plastic pollution and collected plastic waste that was thrown by visitors
and passerbys.
With a steadfast dedication to environmental stewardship, the IHA Foundation has long been at
the forefront of sustainability initiatives. Through previous endeavors such as the 'End Plastic
Pollution' campaign, instrumental in securing bans on plastics in major religious sites, and the
ambitious planting of over 5 lakh trees in the past five years, IHA Foundation has consistently
championed the cause of conservation.
This World Environment Day 2025 Theme theme resonates deeply with the IHA Foundation's
ethos, emphasizing the urgent need to combat plastic pollution for the well-being of both
humanity and the planet. As volunteers diligently collected plastic waste, they concurrently
embarked on an educational mission, spreading awareness far and wide about the detrimental
impacts of plastic on human health, wildlife, and biodiversity.
“The clarion call for action extends beyond mere cleanup efforts. Recognizing the gravity of the
situation, we sincerely urge policymakers to enact swift and decisive measures, advocating for
the phasing out of all single-use plastics by 2030. Embracing a holistic approach, IHA
Foundation also advocates for policies addressing the pervasive issue of fast fashion, a
significant contributor to the proliferation of plastic waste.”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia,
Chairman IHA Foundation and Global Advisor Earth Day Org
Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation and Global Advisor Earth Day Org further
added that “Moreover, we underscore the importance of investing in innovative technologies
and alternative materials as integral components of a plastic-free future. With a vision firmly
fixed on sustainability, the aim is clear: to forge a path towards a world where plastics no longer
threaten the delicate balance of our ecosystems.”
On this World Environment Day, as we unite in solidarity for the preservation of our planet, the
IHA Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, driving tangible change and inspiring collective
action. Let us heed the call to safeguard our shared home, for the sake of present and future
generations alike.
