IHA Foundation Celebrates International Women's Day
Breaking Gender Stereotypes and Empowering Women
In a resounding tribute to the relentless spirit and unwavering determination of women,
IHA Foundation, under the leadership of its Chairman, Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, celebrated
International Women's Day with a fervor that echoed the ethos of empowerment and
inclusivity.
Against the backdrop of a society grappling with entrenched gender stereotypes, the
volunteers of IHA Foundation embarked on a poignant journey to recognize, celebrate, and
honor women who have fearlessly defied societal norms and ventured into traditionally
male-dominated sectors. These remarkable women have not only shattered glass ceilings
but have also carved a niche for themselves, propelling the wheels of progress and
prosperity in their communities.
While normally people celebrate Women's Day by honoring powerful women of society,
which is commendable as they serve as our inspiration, it is often overlooked that there are
countless women who have ventured into the world to support their families and have
created a small recognition in their circle for themselves in their respective fields, all while
supporting their loved ones. We tend to forget that these women are equally important and
truly inspirational figures for many.
Led by the guiding principle that true progress lies in the empowerment of women, IHA
Foundation volunteers reached out to these trailblazing women, amplifying their voices and
acknowledging their invaluable contributions to society. From construction sites to
corporate boardrooms, from mechanic workshops to entrepreneurial ventures, these
women exemplify resilience, grit, and the power of relentless determination.
Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman of IHA Foundation, remarked, "The true measure of a
society's progress lies in the empowerment and upliftment of its women. Today, as we
celebrate International Women's Day, let us recognize and honor the remarkable women
who have defied stereotypes, shattered barriers, and transformed our world with their
courage and determination."
IHA Foundation took a moment to honor and felicitate women in various roles typically
overlooked. Somelita, who works as a Security Guard, Ruma Rani, who earns her livelihood
by being a Muttiah in the bustling Burrra Bazaar, Housekeeping staff Jhuma, Civil Police
officers Swastika, Manual Sweepers who work as temporary staff, including Jeena, and
Nursing Attendant Joyshri Mondal, were among those recognized. These women were filled
with emotion on being recognized, and tears of joy flowed as these unsung heroes felt the
warmth of recognition and respect. It was a truly moving moment, underscoring the
importance of acknowledging the contributions of all women, regardless of their roles.
“As the world commemorates International Women's Day, IHA Foundation renews its
commitment to championing gender equality, advocating for women's rights, and creating a
more inclusive and equitable society for all. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering
solidarity, we aspire to build a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive,
succeed, and fulfill her true potential.”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman of IHA
Foundation
