IHA Foundation Ignites the Flame of Compassion in the Winter Chille
As the festive season unfolds with diverse stories and reasons for celebration, one constant
remains—the essence of sharing love, gratitude, and brotherhood. Festivals, in all their varied
forms, play a pivotal role in uniting individuals, transcending differences and beliefs.
Recognizing this, IHA Foundation, an unwavering advocate for the needy and underprivileged,
took center stage in celebrating the oneness embedded in the festive spirit.
IHA Foundation, known for its commitment to humanitarian causes, orchestrated a unique
celebration that went beyond the customary festivities. Embracing the true essence and
message of Christmas, the foundation embarked on a journey to exemplify the spirit of oneness
that this season embodies.
The heart of the celebration lay in a special drive organized by IHA Foundation Volunteers,
dedicated individuals with a passion for making a tangible difference in the lives of the less
fortunate. Rather than merely distributing winter essentials randomly, the volunteers
meticulously combed the streets of Kolkata and its suburbs, starting their mission as early as
November.
What set this initiative apart was the keen focus on identifying individuals genuinely in need.
The volunteers, equipped with compassion and a sense of purpose, scoured the streets for
men, women, and children shivering in the cold. Their sheets, often no more than paltry pieces
of cloth or makeshift materials, had become wet due to the wintery dew.
IHA Foundation mainly distributes Blankets and Shawls, however as per the need as arises they
also distribute other winter essentials like—woolen clothes, mufflers, sweaters, socks, and
caps. This outreach effort was not a mere act of charity; it was a targeted effort to provide
warmth to those facing the harshest realities of winter.
Satnam Singh Ahluwalia,Chairman of IHA Foundation, extends his compassionate reach beyond
the bustling streets to identify shelter homes tucked away in the quieter corners of Kolkata,
where the need for warmth often goes unnoticed. In his unwavering commitment to illuminate
every corner with the spirit of giving, Mr. Ahluwalia personally spearheads initiatives to support
these less-recognized shelters. With an acute understanding of the challenges faced by these
underprivileged spaces, he ensures that the glow of generosity reaches even the most hidden
corners of society. By identifying shelter homes in dire need of clothes and blankets, Mr.
Ahluwalia embodies the true essence of philanthropy, bringing a sense of comfort and
belonging to those often overshadowed by the mainstream narratives of assistance
IHA Foundation has been taking this initiative for the past 20 years, the initiative which started
with a mere 150 blankets in the first year however in the preceding year, they successfully
distributed 7856 blankets and shawls, demonstrating their dedication to making a continuous
meaningful impact. This winter, their commitment remained unswerving. IHA Foundation
ensured that, regardless of the numbers, no one in the city would shiver from the cold.
The diligent patrols by IHA Foundation Volunteers continued, ensuring that every piece of
warmth reached those in genuine need. This initiative transforms the winter season into a time
of shared compassion and collective warmth, where the true spirit of Christmas is not just
celebrated but lived.
"In the tapestry of giving, the act of distributing blankets becomes a poignant thread that binds
us to the shared warmth of humanity. As we navigate the chill of winter, IHA Foundation's
commitment to providing blankets is more than a gesture; it's a heartfelt promise to embrace
those in need. With each blanket, we weave a cocoon of comfort, fostering not just physical
warmth, but a sense of belonging and compassion. Together, through the simple yet profound
act of distributing blankets, we kindle the flame of hope, illuminating the path towards a winter
where no soul is left in the cold.", Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman of IHA Foundation.
