SHARING THE WARMTH OF JOY THIS CHRISTMAS BY IHA FOUNDATION AND UNITED INTERFAITH FOUNDATION – INDIA IN KOLKATA

This Christmas members of IHA Foundation and United Interfaith Foundation India called upon Rt Revd Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta and Most Rev Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Calcutta to meet and celebrate the Festival to spread the message of Universal Brotherhood, Peace and Harmony through the medium of this festival.

While the stories and reasons for celebrating Christmas may be different for many, the essence is very much relevant and important. These festival’s and their celebrations stands important at a time when unrest and divide is spread the world over, and the pandemic has deeply affected people. These festivals are celebrated for sharing love, gratitude and brotherhood amongst one and all as at the end all these festival bring us together, irrespective of our differences and believes.

IHA Foundation and United Interfaith Foundation celebrated the oneness of the festival, by celebrating the essence and message of the festival. A delegation of IHA Foundation and United Interfaith Foundation – India led by Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation and General Secretary United Interfaith Foundation - India along with Moulana Syed Zaki Hasan Rizvi (Imam Juma Jama Masjid), Munni Mani Kumar Maharaj (Jain Monk), Jb Saif Ahmed and Dashmeshbir Singh (Country Coordinator) met the Bishop of Calcutta and Archbishop of Calcutta and exchanged greetings where they emphasized the importance of equality in society when all divisive barriers are broken to bring spiritual joy into our lives. Sweets and Greetings were exchanged by all, and the need to spread the message of harmony and universal brotherhood was highlighted by all during these difficult times.

IHA Foundation also had initiated a Special Drive this winters of “Unkown Santa”, where a helpline was circulated, and those persons who could not celebrate the festival this year around due to loss of jobs due to Covid or loss of any earning family members, where provided with ration and other essentials like blankets, shawl and sweets to enable them to celebrate this season without compromising their self respect.

“Celebration of various festivals of different religions, makes us aware of the presence of the Divine in our midst and also inspires us to share the Joy of that Presence with all our brothers and sisters.”, said Archbishop Thomas D’Souza , President United Interfaith Foundation –India.

“Let's take a day off from our differences and celebrate for all the good in our life, Sarbat Da Bhall (Well being of All) should be our motto always, every religion/faith creates a soulful and vibrant society. It is very essential especially in today’s time to propagate humanity and ensure that. These festival’s are a reminder to us that though we all may be different, but we all are bonded with love and brotherhood for each other.”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation and General Secretary of United Interfaith Foundation – India.
