KOLKATA NGO SPREAD MESSAGE OF BROTHERHOOD IN AMRITSAR ON EID AL-FITR

Muslims celebrates Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of Fast-Breaking, marking an end to the holy month of Ramadan. The 30 days of Ramadan, observant Muslims fast from dawn to sunset every day – refraining from food and drink etc. The day of Eid-ul-Fitr symbolises piety, patience, fortitude and Godliness. After the strenuous and painstaking efforts of a month-long fasting, Eid comes as a grand finale. The spirit of self-introspection, self-criticism, self-correction and self motivation percolates from Ramzan to Eid! Eid promotes the idea that the individual can be happy only if he contributes to making the entire society happy. To mark this solemn occasion Kolkata based IHA Foundation led by Satnam Singh Ahluwalia along with Bishop of Amritsar Rt Rev Dr.Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy and other religious and community leaders called on the Moulana Abdul Noor,President Majlis Ahrar Islam Punjab, Imam of Masjid Sikandar Khan to extend their greetings on the occasion of Eid and to spread the message of Brotherhood.

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia along Rt Rev Dr.Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy and other religious and community leaders exchanged greetings and gave gifts to Moulana Abdul Noor,President Majlis Ahrar Islam Punjab, Imam of Masjid Sikandar Khan on the occasion of Eid. This is the essence of India and the moral fabric of our nation, where all religions and faiths have co-existed peacefully and have always been there for each other.

“Peaceful dialogue between people of different faiths would save humanity from tumbling into ignorance, concern and confrontation with each other, as a society it has become essential that we understand each other religions which provides reasons for Unity and Brotherhood between believers of different religions and make us understand each others belief.”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation and General Secretary United Interfaith Foundation – India.

“Celebrating each other’s religious festivals enable us to build on mutual understanding, coexistence and respect for human dignity, through which we can achieve many miracles in society. After all we need to understand that religious disharmony and disruption is made by man for their own purposes and not any super powers that we may believe in.”, said Rt Rev Dr.Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy, Bishop of Amritsar.

“It was an honour and priviledge for me to host Sardar Satnam Singh Ahluwalia and Bishop Dr.Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy on the solemn occasion of Eid. Kolkata based IHA Foundation has shown us that the aim and purpose of this meeting is to re-inforce trust between diverse groups and to strengthen the unity and understanding between all religions and faith, which is relevant and necessary.”, said Moulana Abdul Noor,President Majlis Ahrar Islam Punjab, Imam of Masjid Sikandar Khan.

Community gathering as part of cementing social relations is the purpose of these festival and their celebrations. Eid has become an occasion of interfaith harmony and good fellowship. Eid has also become a symbol of communal concord as people from all walks of life come together to celebrate this occasion. Eid also conveys the message of fellow feeling and understanding each other.
