CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT OF SHARING THIS DURGA PUJA FESTIVAL

Organising Durga Puja responsibly in a city afflicted by a pandemic is itself a heroic feat. It does not only involve pandal hopping but a huge number of social and philanthropic activities associated with it.

Continuing the spirit of Brotherhood and Sharing this Puja Festival and upholding our pledge to ensure that – “No one sleeps Hungry in Kolkata” IHA Foundation and its volunteers under the able guidance of Satnam Singh Ahluwalia are conducting special drives to serving food to the underpriviledged and needy of the city along with providing dry ration, clothes and essential items to many middle class families who are still striving to survive after the deep impacts of Lockdown and Coronavirus.

IHA Foundation during these extraordinary times of Covid 2019 pandemic, had served cooked food under their initiative of Zero Hunger to more than 33 Lakh people. Our motto is to serve Humanity - Sarbat da Bhalla – Wellbeing of All ,along with volunteers are people who belong to different people of different faiths. Bengal has been hit by floods and sudden water released by DVC, IHA Foundation has been serving the people who have been affected, at Ghatal, Hooghly’s Khanakul and Arambagh and in areas near Asansol’s Railpar and Kalipahari. We are assisting the administration with Dry food, ration, clothes and other essential items and are continuing expanding our efforts to those people who have lost their homes and livelihood during this difficult times.

“We have initiated a special Durga Puja drive keeping in mind that while some are staying back in the comfort of their homes, some are venturing out to enjoy the humdrum of the festivities, many families who have lost members of their family or their main source of livelihood may not be able to even feed themselves during the Puja’s. Therefore we at IHA Foundation are celebrating this festival by providing ration and daily need items to the families who are not being able to survive and celebrate this Durga Puja”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation.

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia further added, “We believe in our Guru’s teaching of Sarbat da Bhalla, while many people are celebrating this festive season, many in will go through the celebrations without experiencing that love and compassion that we relate to Durga Puja. Our initiative is to reach out to the underpriviledged and needy in the community. We understand the protocols that are in place to stop the transmission of Covid, however we must always remember that these protocols are made to keep us safe and healthy and not to distance ourselves from humanity and brotherhood towards the people who are suffering like the mutthias, beggars, ragpickers and underprivileged and needy.”
