The Republic Day is a day that’s celebrated by the people, for the people & of the people. Republic Day fills each and every one of us with strong emotions. It brings to mind powerful images of India’s military, parading to the world its full might and grandeur. It makes us salute once again the selfless patriotism of our women and men in uniform. It inspires us with the moving accounts of the bravery and gallantry award winners.
Today is a day when we at Kolkata Response Group (KRG) look back and cherish our glorious past! Remember the sacrifices of the great women and men of the freedom struggle. Remember the members of the Constituent Assembly, who gave us in our Constitution a rooting force we can be very proud of. Today we renew our faith and commitment in this sacred text that has made India what it is. It is a day when we honour the efforts & sacrifices and recognise the determination of our Armed Forces and our police forces that spend every moment of their lives protecting us relentlessly.
Therefore while people celebrate the Republic Day by hoisting the flag and singing the national anthem in their own small or big way we at Kolkata Response Group (KRG) proudly celebrate India becoming a Republic. As part of our Republic Day Drive, we at Kolkata Response Group (KRG) visited various police stations, army stations, traffic guards, educational institutions and areas with police personnel’s, to personally thank these individuals for vigilantly protecting us. We were present at all major crossings like Esplanade,Moulali, Gariahat, Park Circus, Park Street etc. where we shared with them a flag, some goodies and a whole bundle of gratitude and made them realise that they are our real heroes.
We shared with them our love in the form of goodies and sweets as we feel that we the citizens of India are at the privileged position of celebrating and feeling the gusto of patriotism, whereas our brothers & sisters in the Forces continue to protect us relentlessly even on this day.
We also extended the same gesture to those who are less privileged to celebrate this day, as one of the pillars of our constitution is Equality, and every citizen should have the right and means to celebrate this day. Furthermore, we also approached school children and encouraged them to celebrate this day of pride, because they are our heroes of tomorrow!
Satnam Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation, said "We also extended the same gestures to Orphanages and Women Homes, those who are less privileged to celebrate this day and cannot come out from their premises as a preventive measure and restrictions, as we believe during these extraordinary times every citizen should have the right and means to celebrate this day."
"Furthermore, we also approached the youth and children and informed them about the importance of this day and encouraged them to celebrate this day, because they are our heroes of tomorrow!", informed Mr.Satnam Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation.
“We had also initiated a special Republic Day drive keeping in mind that we understand that due to protocols and restrictions, many people would not be able to celebrate this Day like they normally do. Therefore we at IHA Foundation are celebrating this Day by feeding the needy and hungry at various points of the city, like Hospitals, Railway Stations, Shelter Homes and on the streets of the city, along with providing them woolen clothes and blankets to tide over this winter season continuing our drive to Share the Warmth with everyone”, said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman IHA Foundation.
Satnam Singh Ahluwalia said, “For me Everything that Rabindranath Tagore says in his poem: Where the mind is without fear and where the head is held high… sums up the significance of Republic Day”. “I really hope that we all pause for a moment to understand and respect the sacrifice of all those before us, so that they could give us our today”, he further added.
